So glad to have you guys back on my blog!
For this post, I want to talk about a hot trend at the moment…LINGERIE!
Oh yes, bring out your PJ’s because the pajamas are the new denim.
We’ve seen the lingerie dressing on the catwalks of New York, Milan and Paris. Designers like Dolce and Gabbana, Céline, Givenchy and Chloé have all showed us what lingerie couture is all about, but I want to know…if we can we actually be able to pull this off in real life?
I’ve been dying to try this trend, but everything I’ve been seeing in the stores made it feel like it’s something you should be wearing at a sleepover party. You know, the ones that Mariah Carey throws. Hollywood celebs have jumped on the lingerie trend, with stars like Kim Kardashian, Irina Shayk and Ciara making it more mainstream. I decided that I wanted to test out this trend, so I stepped into my closet and got creative.
After searching my PJ drawer, I didn’t feel like I could wear any one of my pj’s out on the town. I did find a white lingerie slip dress that made me say…AHA! The slip came with my Dolce & Gabbana lemon dress that you guys saw me wear to my daughter’s first birthday party. If you guys haven’t seen me wear this dress, then click here to view photos.
Anyhow, I took the slip dress and tried it on. When I wore it on its own, I felt like it was a little inappropriate. I just didn’t feel like I could wear it out in LA while doing my coffee run on my way to work or meetings.
I said to myself, what would Rachel Zoe do at this moment if she were styling a client? Her philosophy is all about making fashion show who you are. Right? So I decided to make the lingerie dress very “ME” by throwing on my Levis denim jacket. I am sure you guys have seen me wear this jacket many times. It’s my uniform and I am really obsessed with this jacket.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many ways of doubling your slinky nightie as a cocktail dress. I feel like I have a couple of black one that can be worn on it’s own or with a t-shirt as I did in the past (see post).
Other ways that I feel like you can ooze sophistication and sex appeal with the slinky slip dress is throwing a motorcycle jacket over your shoulders.
What do you guys think about this trend? Would you guys wear your pj’s out?
