“A daughter is someone you laugh with, dream with and love with all your heart!”

Today is Valentine’s Day and I don’t think this holiday should be shared just between lovers — love should be shared with anyone and everyone in your life that makes you happy! I also think that sometimes, we need to share love with people who we feel need it. Whether it’s someone who needs to have their stories heard, or a friend who’s had their heart broken and just needs a hug, love is all about good vibrations. And what better time to share good vibes with the ones you love the most than a holiday like this?

This Valentine’s Day, I wanted to do something special with my beautiful daughter, Collette. When I first laid eyes on her the day she was born, it was love at first sight. The bond I have with my daughter is something that is unexplainable and irreplaceable! So I thought, this Valentine’s Day, I want to do a fun activity with her that might even turn into a tradition for us girls on this holiday: baking cookies. Seriously, what better way to spend time together and do something fun, right?!

Okay, I’m going to be REALLY honest for a second. I had NO idea how messy and complicated this project would be! Then again, isn’t love always messy and complicated to begin with? LOL!

Before I forget, I want to put a disclaimer out there that I am not a professional in the kitchen! So watch with caution, because there is a lot of flour and sugar all over this video!

Another thing I didn’t quite realize (hey, I told you I’m not an expert in the kitchen!): baking takes a long time and you really need to be patient, make sure you’re paying attention to the ingredients (seriously, don’t confuse tablespoons and teaspoons, LOL), and put a lot of love into it in order to get amazing results.

What I realized while having this amazing mommy-and-me experience is that relationships are very similar to baking. It takes work to make a relationship work, just like it takes work to get the *perfect* batch of cookies. You gotta have the right ingredients, a LOT of patience, and it can get a little messy — but the end result is beautiful.

Okay, I need to stop getting all philosophical and get to my story with Collette! Our first baking experience together was, well, messy, crazy, loud, and chaotic. But it was PERFECT.
